DESCRIPTION:Inclusion matters. Based on key learnings from the Inclusive Volunteering Pathways to Employment Program\, this engaging workshop will explore how to build an inclusive community where people of all abilities and backgrounds can contribute. \nThe workshop will explore the positive outcomes of inclusive volunteering by reviewing case studies and utilising practical tips to increase inclusion. This workshop will provide you with the skills to remove the barriers to volunteering and provide you with the tools to help young people find meaningful volunteering opportunities.  You will be challenged to consider the benefits that can be unlocked through volunteering\, including a stronger sense of social inclusion in your workplace. Identifying barriers to inclusion and understanding simple solutions for removing these barriers will be explored from both the individual and organisation. \nOutcomes: \nBy the end of this session\, you will: \n\nunderstand Inclusive Volunteering;\nunderstand why we strive to be inclusive​;\nbe able to identify barriers to inclusion​​;\nhave knowledge to reduce the impact of barriers​​; and\,\nunderstand what it means to be part of an inclusive team.\n\nThis training is valued at $80 and paid for by the Australian Government.

Over four sessions\, delivered by industry professionals\, attendees will learn how volunteer management practices have been adapted over the past 18 months and how we can work together to support a strong future for volunteering in our city. \nThe event will be hosted by VolunteeringACT’s CEO\, Jean Giese. \nWhat will be covered? \n\nHear from Volunteering Australia CEO Mark Pearce about how the volunteering landscape has changed and how we can leverage the events of 2020 to further enhance the pivotal role volunteers play in creating a more connected\, diverse\, and resilient Australia.\nMental health educator extraordinaire Heidi Prowse\, CEO of Mental lllness Education ACT\, will walk attendees through how to create a mentally healthy volunteer engagement framework. Whether you’re just starting out\, or you have established programs\, this session will provide helpful tips on how to position volunteers at the forefront of everything you do.\nBack by popular demand\, Mae Tanner\, Lawyer at Justice Connect’s Not-for-Profit Law\, will cover the legal considerations for managing a diverse volunteer workforce. Mae has a talent for distilling complex legal concepts into actionable steps that any organisation can implement in their programs.\nAnd finally\, all the way from the United Kingdom\, volunteer management guru Rob Jackson will help us prepare for the future of volunteer management in a COVID world and beyond.
