VolunteeringACT is the peak body for volunteering and community information in the ACT. This means that we work to represent, support, and celebrate volunteers, volunteer involving organisations and the wider volunteer community in the Canberra Region. One important way we do this is through our policy and advocacy work.

We work closely with our members and other stakeholders to provide current and evidence-based advice to decision-making bodies and to advocate for connection, inclusion, and enhanced participation for all Canberrans. We do this by:

• Providing submissions to relevant Australian and ACT government inquiries
• Participating in relevant consultations, to represent and reflect the views of our members, and the ACT volunteering ecosystem
• Regularly participating in committees, working groups and advisory bodies
• Contributing to national and jurisdictional policy development
• Undertaking research and data analysis
• Conducting campaigns.

We are keen to seek out new ways of supporting the volunteering sector to grow, improve and collaborate, helping to ensure that all Canberrans have access to meaningful, safe, and inclusive volunteering opportunities.

We work closely with Volunteering Australia and the other state and territory volunteering peak bodies to share information and learnings, collaborate on issues of national significance and develop shared policy positions.
