2024 Volunteering Awards, Canberra Region – Nomination form

Any individuals or teams who have volunteered in the Canberra Region can be nominated, including people who have been nominated in previous years.

There are nine award categories and nominations are accepted for seven of those categories only. All nominations received will automatically be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year and Canberra’s Choice Awards.

All nominee/s must be volunteers or volunteer teams, not paid employees or paid volunteer managers.

We have extended the deadline to Wednesday, 30 October 2024, to ensure we capture a diverse pool of nominations.

The Volunteering Awards, Canberra Region are the premier recognition event for volunteers in the region. This event makes stories of spirit, kindness, innovation, inclusion, and resilience visible to our whole community. They are held in recognition of the International Volunteer Day, celebrated on 5 December annually. VolunteeringACT acknowledges volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain. VolunteeringACT invites you to nominate your friends, family and colleagues for the 2024 Volunteering Awards, Canberra Region.

NOMINATIONS

Nominations are now open only for the First Nations Volunteer of the Year Award. The nominations for all other categories are now closed. All nominations received will automatically qualify for the Volunteer of the Year and Canberra's Choice Awards. All nominee/s must be volunteers or volunteer teams, not paid employees or paid volunteer managers.

Award category description: First Nations Volunteer of the Year

This award recognises an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individual or team whose volunteering contributions have had a significant positive community impact. For example, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander volunteer or team who has led the way for positive change in the Canberra community or has shown commitment to the cause they volunteer for. At least half of the team members must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to be considered eligible for this award.

(The Canberra’s Choice Award provides the Canberra community with an opportunity to vote for their favourite nominee, determining the winner of this award category. The Award is open to all nominees. This award winner is chosen based on the number of votes received by the public. Voting will commence online once nominations for the awards have closed.
